Project Story

After settling in Kumeyaay territory (San Diego) from the lands of Acapulco, Guerrero in Mexico I grew up knowing my grandmother and family over the phone. I remember my abuelita (grandmother) will always say, “acuerdate de donde vienes y sabrás quien eres y adónde vas. (remember where you are from and you will know who you are and where you are going)" After her transition, my relationship with her evolved in my grandmother's realm with the guidance and teaching of Rossa Socco and sacred ceremonies.  I have been reminded that I am my grandmother's light, joy, and love. Estoy Sanando Linajes (I am healing lineages.) The messages in both the mugs and cards are healing words that have supported my relationship with my body, spirit, mind, and nature.

For over a year now, I have gathered many phrases shared with me through meditation, prayer, and canto. You will find an invocation guide card, intentionally offered for you to practice inviting your ancestors, more specifically the feminine lineage. The guide invites you to recollect memories of your loved ones and brings them into your present moment. My wish is that you invite curiosity when engaging with the deck and give yourself permission to feel all the power that you carry.

A huge lesson I am practicing is letting myself be loved and supported by community.

I decided to continue my education after getting admitted to the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) Masters in Urban and Regional Planning Program. I am asking the community and allies to support me in reaching my goal for tuition expenses and help me start my journey. Most recently, my siblings and I stepped in to help cover the cost of medical bills and living expenses while he recovers treatment for throat cancer. Any amount you offer also helps alleviate the pressure of financial struggles with my family in the future.
